In the final Wit & Wisdom module of the year, second graders learn all about the digestive system. Students in Mrs. Brown’s class got to make digestion happen right in front of their eyes. With the help of a little food and lemon juice, students simulated the process of food traveling through the mouth, stomach and intestines

THANK YOU, PTO for gifting the WVES office the cabinets for clothes and the plastic "pencil" containers that we will use for medicine for students. Thank you for your generosity and always making sure our school is taken care of. ~Front Office

Thanks to our AMAZING PTO, Ms. Emily was able to start a sensory item closet! So many students need timers to aid in transitions, objects they can fidget with in class, and noise dimming headphones and now their teachers can check them out from the sensory closet in Ms. Emily’s room to use for the year. Noise dimming headphones and chewlery are by far the most popular! Ms. Emily and many kids want to say a huge THANK YOU to the PTO for this great opportunity!!!!

Thank you so much for the Legos in STEM and for other small groups. We have designed airplanes after reading Violet the Pilot. A wonderful book about a STEM girl who creates and makes a very good decision in the end . We plan on some other build challenges. Students just love designing new things with Legos. Sincerely, Mrs. Moran

During Art/PE, Mr. Martin and Coach Morgan show students how to design paper airplanes on the new big screen in the gym. Then students are given an opportunity to color, design and make modifications to their airplane before the throwing competition. The two types of throws we worked on is throwing for distance and throwing for accuracy.

Mrs. Clouse's class had a blast on our walking field trip to Main Street in Weaverville. Third grade visited local businesses to learn about economic principles such as supply and demand. As you can see, students also had lots of fun taking silly photos along the way! Thank you to Prescription Pad, Keller Williams, and Trout Insurance for welcoming us!

UKULELE UNIT! Ukuleles are fantastic instruments where we can apply everything we have learned as we sing and accompany ourselves simultaneously! This is a fantastic brain workout as we sing with pitch, rhythm and lyrics, coordinating our left hand changing chords and our right hand strumming. Sounds overwhelming? Surprisingly, it's quite natural! Our students gain a lot of fine and gross motor skills, and develop skills for learning other string instruments! Head over to Mrs. Dauphinais' website to see the songs we are learning, and how to play them at home if you have a ukulele (or want to get one!) https://sites.google.com/bcsemail.org/maegandauphinais/what-are-we-learning
