Cheers, laughter, and friendly rivalry filled the Enka High School gym on Thursday, October 30, as staff members from Hominy Valley Elementary and Candler Elementary went head-to-head in the long awaited battle of the golden volleyball.

This year’s staff vs. staff volleyball game marked the first matchup between the two schools since 2012. The event wasn’t just about bragging rights, as it also served as a fundraiser for both schools, drawing in families, students, and community members who packed the stands to support their favorite teachers.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson was on hand to cheer for both teams, while Associate Superintendent Jennifer Reed joined the action on the court, proudly representing Candler Elementary - the very school she once attended as a student.

The competition was fierce, with both sides showing school pride and determination to win. After three hard-fought games, Hominy Valley claimed the victory, winning two out of the three matches. Board of Education member Judy Lewis presented the coveted golden volleyball to the triumphant Hominy Valley staff.

As the crowd applauded and smiles spread across the gym, one thing was clear - the spirit of community, sportsmanship, and Jet pride is stronger than ever in the Enka District.
