Welcome to Music!

I love teaching music and have the joy of teaching grades K-4th in the Weaverville Community. I love seeing the children grow in their musical experiences and knowledge year to year.

I believe all children need the opportunity to explore, create, and develop social and emotional skills using music as our guiding force. Children will move, create, sing, and experience a wide variety of music. Students will also have the opportunity to play various instruments such as drums, xylophones, recorders, hand held percussion, ukuleles, and guitars. Weekly lessons align with the State and National Music standards as well as reinforce and support our regular classroom instruction.

I am originally from
Kentucky however, music and education have taken me all over the world. I attended Murray State University where I graduated with a B.M.E. in Music Education. After a couple of years of teaching I moved to Amherst, Massachusetts where I taught music and flute lessons. I earned a Masters in Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2001. In 2002 my husband and I were both awarded a Fellowship/Assistantship at the University of Oklahoma where I earned a Masters in Music Performance. While in Oklahoma I spent my summers traveling and playing my flute. In the summer of 2003 I had the opportunity to travel, live and perform on my flute in Leipzig, Germany.

I look forward to sharing my love for music with your child!
