Mrs. Bettilyon

Welcome to third grade! I am delighted to have your child in my classroom. Third grade is an exciting year!
Let me introduce myself!  I have a B.A. degree in elementary education along with my degree in psychology. My personal philosophy in education is that learning must take place in a trusted and nurturing environment. When your child comes to my classroom I want them to feel like they are part of a learning "family" who strives to help each other to become the best they can be.
We will have a snack each day, so I ask that each student bring a snack that is healthy. Water is available at the fountain in the hall, or your child may bring his/her own water in a plastic bottle to keep in their cubbie.
Homework in third grade will be nightly reading, or math and will reinforce what was taught in class that day. If work is not completed during the school day I will require it to be finished at home that night. Please refer to the Homework Policy in the school handbook for further explanation. We will also work on various projects throughout the year, but projects will be done in the classroom.
Your child's weekly papers will be sent home on Friday in your child's Take Home Folder and Planner. Please keep the graded papers.
Volunteers are welcome in my class! Please let me know if you are able to spare time tutoring or helping with special projects. Thank you in advance!
I hope that your child finds third grade challenging and fun! Please feel free to call, email or send a note if you have questions or concerns.
