When to Keep Your Child Home From School

Read below to find out if you need to keep your child home from school...

Keep Your Child Home From School If:

  • Their temperature 100.5 or higher (keep at home until fever-free for 24 hours)
  • They have a rash with fever or behavior change (until seen by a doctor)
  • Their illness that prevents the child from participating comfortably in program activities
  • They have difficulty breathing or other signs of serious illness
  • They have diarrhea that cannot be contained or has blood/mucus in it
  • They are vomiting two or more times in previous 24 hours
  • They have pink eye with discharge (until seen by doctor)
  • They have strep throat (until 24 hours after antibiotics have been started)
  • They have head lice ( until after treatment is completed and free of live bugs)
  • They have scabies (until after treatment is completed)
  • They have chicken pox (until the sixth day of onset of the rash or sooner if all sores are dried and crusted)
