Welcome to the Weaverville Elementary and Weaverville Primary Music classroom!  I am honored to be teaching your child each week, and I hope they are having lots of fun learning about music.

I am originally from Kentucky however, my music and education have taken me all over the world. I attended Murray State University where I graduated with a B.M.E. in Music Education. After a couple of years of teaching I moved to Amherst, Massachusetts where I taught music and flute lessons. I  earned a Masters in Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2001. In 2002 my husband and I were both awarded a Fellowship/Assistantship at the University of Oklahoma where I earned a Masters in Music Performance. While in Oklahoma I spent my summers traveling and playing my flute. In the summer of 2003 I had the opportunity to travel, live and perform on my flute in Leipzig, Germany.

While in Music, students study a variety of music concepts, develop instrumental and vocal performance skills, and present musical programs. Students attend music class once a week for 45 minutes. Our lessons align with the State and National Music standards as well as reinforce and support our regular classroom instruction.
